About Me.

Welcome!

My name is Dr Fiona Schneiders and I am a Wagga Wagga based NAATI certified German to English translator.

I grew up in Germany near Bonn. Succeeding my degree in Biology at the University of Bonn, I completed my PhD at the Centre for Biochemistry of the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne in Germany. While undertaking my PhD I gained extensive experience in protein expression, purification, characterisation, and analysis of protein-protein interactions as well as various other molecular biological, biochemical, and cell biological techniques.

After completing my PhD I came to Australia end of November 2006 and worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre for Immunology, St. Vincent’s Hospital/UNSW in Sydney. My project investigated differential gene expression in different stages of oesophageal cancer using RNA extracted from patient samples and quantitative real-time PCR.

In February 2008 I started working at Charles Sturt University’s School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences. As a postdoctoral research fellow I designed, organised and conducted pharmacokinetic studies in horses investigating commonly used equine medications. In addition to my research work I taught into the Equine Science degree.

From 2010 to 2014 I worked as a Casual Academic at CSU’s School of Biomedical Sciences and the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences. I taught into various subjects including Veterinary Cell Biology and Anatomy and Physiology.

From November 2014 to March 2023, I held a position as Technical Officer at the School of Biomedical Sciences and gathered extensive experience in preparing subjects involving Microbiology and Biotechnology as well as Haematology.

Recently I joined the Plant Biosecurity Research and Diagnostics team at NSW DPIRD’s Wagga Wagga Agricultural Institute as Technical Officer to assist in the DNA barcoding facility.

In April 2023 I gained my qualifications as NAATI certified translator German to English. This enables me to provide NAATI certified translations recognised by all Australian government departments and authorities.

With my extensive background in science, in addition to translating official documents, I am specialising on life science related translations.
